BYOD (BRING YOUR OWN DOG) DOG YOGA

Bring Your Own Dog Yoga Classes!

Attention all dog lovers: Join us for a unique yoga experience where your furry friend isn’t just welcome, they’re part of the class! Our weekly dog and puppy yoga sessions are specifically designed for you and your pup to enjoy together. Grab your leash, your pup, and let’s share in the joy and relaxation that yoga brings — side by side with your dog.

Yoga offers a great opportunity to meet ourselves where we are in the present—in body, mind, and spirit. Just as we take time to focus on our breath, our movements, and where we may feel stuck or stagnant, our dogs provide a similar source of unconditional love and presence. They remind us to stay in the moment and accept ourselves just as we are.

By practicing yoga alongside your dog, we not only care for our own well-being but also engage in a shared experience that deepens our bond with our pets. Dogs have a natural capacity for joy and acceptance, making each class a unique, fun, and restorative journey for both you and your furry companion.

What to bring: Your pup, of course! We provide mats, but feel free to bring extra treats to help guide your dog through the class.

Join us and experience the special connection that comes from practicing yoga with your dog. Our classes are always led by certified yoga instructors, ensuring a fulfilling practice for both humans and their four-legged friends. See you on the mat!

What to Bring:
Your Dog: This is a Bring Your Own Dog event. Each class is a special opportunity for you and your dog to bond and engage in yoga together. Please note that dogs will not be provided by District Dogs.

Before You Arrive:
Dog Requirements: To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all, we ask that your dog meets the following criteria:
– Suitable for the class size and space.
– Up-to-date on vaccinations.
– Neutered/spayed (if applicable).
-Socially well-behaved.

Pre-Class Preparation: Arrive at our National Landing location by the start time. The first 10-15 minutes allow your dog to get comfortable in the new environment.

During the Class:

  • Safety and Comfort: Dogs may remain on or off-leash at the owner’s discretion, based on their temperament and the dynamics of the class.
  • Liability: As a pet owner, you are responsible for your dog’s behavior and well-being during the class. District Dogs provides a dog-friendly space, but specific care beyond the space, water, and toys is not included.
  • Certified Yoga Instruction: Enjoy a 45-minute vinyasa flow suitable for all levels of yoga practitioners, led by our certified yoga instructors.

Additional Notes:

  • Safety Waivers: For the protection of all participants (two and four-legged alike), signing a safety waiver is required. This includes emergency contact information and acknowledges the owner’s responsibility for their pet.
  • Social Media and Privacy: We love to capture the joy of our classes! Photos may be taken for use on social media or sent directly to you. If you prefer not to have photos taken of you or your dog, you can opt-out at any time by telling your instructor.
  • Addressing Your Concerns: If you have reserved a “private event,” we ensure the privacy and exclusivity of your session. Please contact us for any specific requirements or questions.

We Value Your Feedback:
Your experience at District Dogs is important to us. We’ve taken steps to address past concerns and enhance clarity around our classes. If you have further suggestions or need clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to make your experience with us memorable and positive!

Core Principles

There are no end goals to a yoga practice. The purpose of each class is to check-in with the self, assess the parts of us that need care and attention, and to encourage release and expansion.

The validation we feel from being needed and appreciated by someone outside of ourselves is a healthy human experience. Incorporating our dogs into yoga practice helps us remain mindful and grateful for the privilege of sharing our lives with our canine companions.

Stepping into a new space or new habit can feel challenging or even scary at first. Having our dogs present fosters a sense of comfort and warmth that can help us feel at home on the mat. Not only does this benefit our practice, but it helps us remain open to building social connections with others.

All body types, all levels of familiarity with yoga, and all dogs are welcome in our space. We offer and encourage modifications so that you and your dog feel comfortable during class and refreshed afterwards.
